Join Loma Griffith, who co-founded Tucson Meet Yourself with her husband, the late “Big Jim” Griffith, a folklorist, on the festival’s origins, relationships, and evolution.

“A lot of the success of the festival depended on the fact that we had been living in this town for a lot of years already, had behaved with respect, enthusiasm, and admiration toward different groups in town,” Loma says. “If Jim came to them and said, ‘Would you come and join the festival?’ they would consult with their group and they would say, ‘Yes, we trust you. We’ll come.'”
