Ballet Folklorico Alexa Zozaya (BFAZ) was founded the 13th of May 2021 under the artistic direction of Alexa Zozaya. The primary goal of BFAZ is to preserve and showcase Mexican culture and traditions for future generations as well as providing a place for people of all ages to experience the richness of our culture through dance. Our repertoire represents the traditional dances of various communities throughout Mexico, such as dances from the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Chihuahua, Sonora, and Sinaloa.
Performing with Grupo Folklorico Miztontli
Grupo Folklórico Miztontli, founded in 2006 by Denise Garcia, is the University of Arizona’s first and only Mexican folklórico dance group created specifically to serve the students in the university community. We provide our dancers the opportunity to develop/expand their confidence and presentation skills, build community, and reconnect or learn about Mexican culture through dance. Miztontli is currently under the leadership of Joel Saldaña, Adrian Gonzales, Luisa Becerra, Jaycee Ramanousky, Perla Reyes, and Bryan Cruz.
