Pottery

Teresa is a proud citizen of the Tohono O’odham Nation. She is part of a group that teaches all aspects of Tohono O’odham utilitarian pottery. Teresa feels it is important to revitalize and continue traditions that have sustained us for centuries. Her beaded necklaces and shell jewelry pay homage to the ocean and grace our space with beauty. Teresa lives Where the Turtle is Wedged on the Tohono Oʼodham Nation in southcentral Arizona.
Utilitarian pottery has been used by People for storage, cooking and ceremony here in the Sonoran Desert. The clay comes from the desert and our connection to our place here is strong with this artform. O’odham have a special relationship with the ocean and the shell jewelry I make respects the ocean and its gifts.
