I come from the Gu-Vo Community in the Gu-Vo District. My business name is “Wisdom Creation.”
I come from family of basket weavers, both traditional and contemporary. I started weaving at 8 years old. I weave with yucca, devil’s claw, cattail, banana yucca root, and bear grass. With this I can complete a basket. My cousin taught me this traditional weaving. I was 10 years old when my grandma taught me contemporary horsehair basket weaving, using all original black, white and red or brown horsehair, with no dyes added. I also do beadwork, which I learned on my own.
I love everything I do. I put my mind, heart, and soul into my wisdom to create beautiful Things that I can show & sell. God Bless. 🙏🏽
