On behalf of all the people who make up the TMY family, we want to express our gratitude to the MALI team from San Jose, California who produced the short video you see featured here on the right side of the home page. MALI stands for “Multicultural Arts Leadership Institute,” a professional development project for leaders in the arts. We were fortunate that for two years (2014 and 2013) MALI chose TMY as their annual joint project. A group of incredibly committed cultural workers flew into Tucson, took residence for several days and helped us collect hundreds of ideas and feedback from the public through on-site surveys at the festival. Their stay in hotels locally also helped boost the local economy during the festival! In 2014, so many of the MALI participants were skilled on video and poetry that they pulled their talents together to produce this great short video. We thank especially Demone Carter and Tamara Alvarado for leading MALI and choosing Tucson for this great service. You are always welcome back, San Joseans! And remember, if you ever want to start a “San Jose Meet Yourself” we are ready to lend our support.
