Music and Dance

Performance at Tucson Meet Yourself bring the festival stages and plazas to life with sounds and movement from living music and dance traditions from the Southwest and around the world. Listen to accordionists in Tohono O’odham waila music, Klezmer bands, and Czech polka traditions; drummers from West Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil, and Japan; guitar players from Argentina, Mexico, African American R&B traditions. From Irish step dancing to Polynesian hula to the Yaqui ceremonial deer dance (the only public sharing of this tradition outside of ceremonial practice), Tucson Meet Yourself performances help you connect to culture through your senses. Sit back and watch or get close to learn more through workshops, demonstrations, and conversations.
