Marva: Urban Storyteller

I’m with Marvalous Productions, LLC, and that’s what I’m most excited about right now. I think in life we find ourselves in what we have to do, sometimes, more times than not. Then there’s the thing we ought to do. And then there’s the thing we have to do. And for me, I have to, have to, tell the stories of my people. I’m an urban storyteller. Marvelous Productions is about capturing the stories of everyday lives in a marvelous way. It’s about listening and giving validation. It was a practice of sitting with my dear grandfather, Mack Harris, on his porch, his “stoop” as he would call it. And he would say “Baby,” and he would tell me a story. My company is about those stories. I’m finally getting the opportunity to work and do it full time, which is an interruption in a blood line. Because I’ve watched artists and singers and bakers and designers who have worked because they had to—and I’m doing the thing I want to and I’m giving it back to them. Yeah.
