Joanna: Free Hugs

Most people don’t hug strangers. It’s not a big part of who we are right now, and I don’t know if it’s ever been, but I wanted it to be more a part of my life. About a year ago I made some Free Hugs t-shirts. I’ve done Free Hug events where I’ve gone out and hugged people but now it’s like my uniform. I will have random strangers walk up to me and ask for a hug and I’m like, Absolutely! There’s this way that people show up when they are being vulnerable. And it’s vulnerable to hug a stranger. It’s about that connection. I truly believe that’s all we have in this life. Whether we like it or not, we’re connected to everything and everybody. We all live on the same earth, we all breath the same air. We’re connected. So, if we can make that a conscious choice, it’s that much more lovely.
