I’m a short story writer and novelist. My stories are metaphorical, about human emotions. Like a woman who has to accept who she is grows a tail, for example. And a woman who has suffered a terrible terrible trauma lives underwater for 10 months because grief is such an underwater feeling. Things like that. I moved to Tucson in 2009. I had no idea of the writing community that exists here. It was like finding a garden that’s in full bloom with everything you need to eat. Ever since, I’ve been involved in the University of Arizona’s Poetry Center and Pima Community College’s writing life and Casa Libra en la Solana’s writing life. It’s one of the most beautiful communities that I’ve ever found.
