Quilting is the art of decoratively stitching multiple layers of fabrics, usually with an insulating layer of cotton or wool. This stitching allowed for artistic expression that had been commonly used to produce blankets for bedding, as well as clothing. Today, the art form has developed to include these traditional forms, as well as modern and art quilts.
The Tucson Quilters Guild is dedicated to promoting the art and craft of quilting through lectures, workshops, an annual quilt show, and general good fellowship with quilters from around the Southern Arizona region. The Guild’s current membership is comprised of approximately 400 artists.
We are also an active charity group, making and donating hundreds of quilts and pillowcases annually to local hospitals, and hospices. Our affiliate organizations are Quilt for a Cause, which auctions and sells handmade quilts to support women’s cancer research, and Quilts of Valor, a group that covers Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts.
