Christine: Earring Maker

Christine. Faces of the Festival 2018. Steven Meckler photo.

I am Navajo. I come from a long line of Navajo weavers. Although I don’t weave. I am starting to learn how to weave finally. I have a loom at home, but I’ve only done like maybe an inch or two of weaving. The artwork that I am selling today are earrings. When the gem show comes to town, I buy a lot of natural stones, beads that I can put together along with all the bindings and I just assemble them the way that I like to wear my earrings. My greatest joy is my family.  My husband is an artist and my daughter is also an award-winning artist and my son is now learning to work with clay.
